Monument offers an equine program centered on true horsemanship. Your student will gain opportunities to master the ancient art of training and working with horses, and through that process gain new skills, new confidence, new relationships, and a new understanding of his own patterns and choices.
It’s been observed that “There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a person.” The power of horses in the therapeutic process is almost universally recognized. And yet, there are many places where students in “equine therapy” never even get to sit on a horse. Oftentimes the horse is reduced to nothing more than a therapeutic metaphor, which is to say that, oftentimes, the horse himself is lost.
Not at Monuments.
Monuments’ Equine Program takes a true horsemanship approach. Our goal is for each student to master the ancient art of training and working with horses. You’ll see your student gain new confidence and a new sense of their own capabilities as they work toward that goal. They’ll also build relationships with the horses themselves, and lifelong friendships with the highly skilled instructors in our first-class team.
What’s more, the art of horsemanship is based in principle. As your student learns and applies maxims like “Slow is fast, fast is slow,” “a horse is a perfect mirror,” “As soft as possible, as firm as necessary” he will intuitively begin to see these principles at play in his own life and choices. Our students regularly speak the language of horsemanship in day-to-day life at Monuments, because it has become second nature. A new language, which leads to new thinking, and a new way of being.
